How the Communication and Digital Costs Score Is Calculated

The overall score is a weighted average across five indicators. Nomadino calculates: communication and digital costs score = internet cost × 0.35 + mobile plan cost × 0.25 + prepaid SIM and data package × 0.18 + eSIM and travel data × 0.10 + coworking day pass × 0.12.

  • Internet cost: 35%
  • Mobile plan cost: 25%
  • Prepaid SIM and data package: 18%
  • eSIM and travel data: 10%
  • Coworking day pass: 12%

Nomadino uses normalized indicator scores on a 0 to 100 scale, where higher means lower recurring digital basic costs. Internet cost receives the highest weight because a stable fixed connection is usually the most important digital cost block for work, housing and everyday life. Mobile plans are also weighted strongly because mobile data, reachability and navigation matter directly for arrival, travel and daily use.

Prepaid SIM and data packages capture the short-term local entry cost and therefore receive a medium weight. eSIM and travel data count lower because they mainly matter for arrival and travel, and do not replace local SIM offers. Coworking day passes remain included because digital work may require not only data access but also a usable work location. If an indicator is removed with the checkbox, Nomadino divides by the sum of the remaining weights, preserving the relative importance of the active indicators.
