How the Electricity and Energy Score Is Calculated
The overall score is a weighted average across six indicators. Nomadino calculates: electricity and energy score = power outages × 0.25 + electrification rate × 0.20 + energy self-sufficiency × 0.18 + renewable share × 0.15 + carbon dioxide intensity × 0.12 + nuclear exposure × 0.10.

Power outages receive the highest weight because reliability directly matters for housing, work, cooling, communication and supply. Electrification is weighted strongly because it shows whether electricity access is broadly available. Energy self-sufficiency and renewable share describe supply security and long-term robustness. Carbon dioxide intensity and nuclear exposure remain included, but receive lower weights because they add quality, risk and sustainability context to the energy system.
