How the Infrastructure Score Is Calculated

The overall score is a weighted average across five topic scores. Nomadino calculates: infrastructure score = basic infrastructure and logistics × 0.24 + road and traffic infrastructure × 0.20 + electricity and energy × 0.22 + internet and connectivity × 0.22 + public transport and active mobility × 0.12.

  • Basic infrastructure and logistics: 24%
  • Road and traffic infrastructure: 20%
  • Electricity and energy: 22%
  • Internet and connectivity: 22%
  • Public transport and active mobility: 12%

Nomadino uses normalized topic scores on a 0 to 100 scale, where higher means better practical infrastructure. Basic infrastructure and logistics receive the highest weight because supply chains, rail, air links and international connectivity broadly shape how usable a location is. Internet and electricity are weighted almost as highly because they are continuously important for housing, work, communication and supply.

Road and traffic infrastructure remains strongly weighted, but slightly lower because road quality, congestion, road density, traffic safety and charging infrastructure mainly describe physical mobility. Public transport and active mobility remain included, but receive a lower weight because they vary strongly within countries between major cities, smaller towns and rural regions. If a topic is removed with the checkbox, Nomadino divides by the sum of the remaining weights, preserving the relative importance of the active topics.
