How the Mobility Costs Score Is Calculated

The overall score is a weighted average across seven indicators. Nomadino calculates: mobility costs score = public transport cost × 0.25 + fuel price per litre × 0.18 + car rental per day × 0.15 + car insurance per year × 0.15 + car purchase price index × 0.12 + driving licence cost × 0.08 + city parking per hour × 0.07.

  • Public transport cost: 25%
  • Fuel price per litre: 18%
  • Car rental per day: 15%
  • Car insurance per year: 15%
  • Car purchase price index: 12%
  • Driving licence cost: 8%
  • City parking per hour: 7%

Nomadino uses normalized indicator scores on a 0 to 100 scale, where higher means lower mobility costs. Public transport receives the highest individual weight because it is the most important recurring mobility-cost block for many expats, nomads and city residents, and prevents this ranking from becoming a pure car-cost comparison.

Fuel, car rental and car insurance are also weighted strongly because they describe the most important recurring or short-stay car costs. The car purchase price index remains relevant but receives a slightly lower weight because not every stay involves buying a vehicle. Driving licence costs and parking fees remain included but count less because they depend more on city, length of stay and personal mobility choices. If an indicator is removed with the checkbox, Nomadino divides by the sum of the remaining weights, preserving the relative importance of the active indicators.
