How Season and Travel Comfort Are Calculated

The rating is a weighted average of four indicators. Nomadino calculates: season and travel comfort = high-season overcrowding × 0.30 + off-season usability × 0.25 + seasonal capacity shortage × 0.25 + seasonal price surcharges × 0.20.

  • High-season overcrowding: 30%
  • Off-season usability: 25%
  • Seasonal capacity shortage: 25%
  • Seasonal price surcharges: 20%

This topic rates seasonal travel comfort without double-counting weather, safety or general cost indicators because those are already covered in other Nomadino categories.

High-season overcrowding receives the highest weight because heavy visitor pressure directly limits how usable a destination feels in practice. Off-season usability and seasonal capacity shortage each follow with 25 percent because opening patterns, transport links, available accommodation and bookable services determine whether a destination is truly manageable outside or during peak periods. Seasonal price surcharges count for 20 percent and measure only the premium between low season and peak season, not the general price level.

The source frame mainly uses UN Tourism data, Eurostat tourism data, national statistical and tourism authorities, OpenStreetMap, Wikidata and maintained Nomadino indicators on accommodation, attractions, tourism infrastructure and vacation costs.
