How the Social System & Social Cohesion Score Is Calculated

The overall score is a weighted average across eight indicators. Nomadino calculates: pension replacement rate × 0.12 + unemployment benefit duration × 0.10 + social spending × 0.16 + Gini coefficient × 0.12 + poverty rate × 0.12 + housing support × 0.10 + social mobility × 0.12 + social cohesion × 0.16.

This board does not only rate the size of individual benefits. It rates the resilience of the social framework: protection, inequality, poverty, mobility, housing and social cohesion.

Social spending and social cohesion receive the highest individual weights because they directly describe the breadth and everyday usability of the social system. The other indicators prevent one strong benefit from dominating the whole board.
