Tap Water Safety

Percentage of the population with access to safely managed drinking water. Where tap water is safe to drink, you save on bottled water costs, reduce plastic waste, and avoid the risk of water-borne illness. Nearly all of Western Europe, North America, Japan and Australia score close to 100 %. In contrast, large parts of sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia are below 60 %, requiring travellers to budget for water purification or bottled water every day.
