5G Coverage

This ranking compares the share of a country's population covered by 5G mobile networks. The raw value shows 5G population coverage in percent; higher values indicate more modern mobile infrastructure, lower-latency potential and better network reserves in busy urban areas. The rating equals the rounded percentage value.

How the Raw Value Is Calculated

The raw value shows the share of the population covered by 5G mobile networks. A value of 80 therefore means that around 80 percent of the population theoretically live in a 5G coverage area.

The main public framework comes from ITU DataHub and ITU Facts and Figures. Nomadino also uses national telecom regulators, operator coverage maps, GSMA context and maintained replacement values for small territories.

The rating follows the raw value directly: more population coverage receives a higher rating, and the rounded percentage value is used as the point value. 99 percent coverage therefore receives 99 points; 100 points require 100 percent coverage.

5G coverage is not a substitute for measured mobile speed. A country can have high coverage but lower real-world speed if spectrum, network load, backhaul or tariffs are weaker. This is why mobile speed and 5G coverage remain separate indicators.

For countries and territories without complete direct data coverage, Nomadino uses cautious replacement values from administering states, regulatory context, network launch, population density, island context and regional peers.
