How the Raw Value Is Calculated

The raw value is the estimated share of young children reached by formal childcare, early education or comparable regular services. It is shown in percent.

Nomadino uses the OECD Family Database, UNESCO UIS education data, UNICEF MICS and UNICEF data portal, national early-childhood statistics and maintained replacements for countries and territories without complete direct coverage.

The rating equals the rounded percentage value. 72 percent coverage therefore receives 72 points, and 99 percent receives 99 points. This keeps the indicator directly readable and avoids hidden conversion.

The raw value measures coverage, not price, pedagogical quality, opening hours, waiting lists or regional differences within a country. Those factors can matter, but are not the core of this indicator.
