Personal Freedom

Personal Freedom component of the Cato/Fraser Human Freedom Index 2023, 0–10. This sub-index covers rule of law, security and safety, freedom of movement (including freedom to choose where to live), freedom of religion, freedom of assembly and civil society, freedom of expression, freedom of relationships, and legal gender identity. It is arguably the most direct measure of how free you are as an individual living in a country — covering the day-to-day decisions that define a nomadic lifestyle. Switzerland, New Zealand and Denmark top this sub-index.
