Child Poverty Rate

This ranking compares how strongly children are affected by poverty in each country. The raw value shows the estimated child poverty rate in percent; lower poverty rates receive a higher rating because they indicate more stable material conditions for families.

How the Raw Value Is Calculated

The raw value is the estimated child poverty rate in percent. Lower rates indicate more stable material conditions for children and families on average.

Nomadino uses OECD child-poverty data, UNICEF data, Eurostat context, World Bank poverty context, national statistical offices and maintained replacements for countries and territories without a directly comparable series.

The rating is inverse and deliberately stricter than a direct 100-percent scale: 0 percent child poverty receives 100 points, while 70 percent or more receives 0 points. Values in between are scaled linearly. This penalises very high child-poverty rates clearly without pushing the currently weakest countries all the way to 0 points.

Poverty definitions differ across sources. Where no exactly identical definition is available, relative child poverty, national poverty lines and UNICEF context values are combined cautiously and treated as an estimate.
